The Netgear WGR614 comes with an in-built double firewall. This includes Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and Denial of Service (DOS) prevention. SPI helps prevent requests for personal information from outside of the network.
Data sent over the network is encrypted by the WEP or WPA-PSK wireless encryption standards. This helps prevent eavesdroppers and those that steal broadband bandwidth by hacking into the wireless network.
The WGR614 comes with content filtering so that you can block access to websites that are deemed to be inappropriate. You can also limit access to the network depending on the time of day.
MAC address filtering is also included. This allows you to limit access to the wireless network to predetermined computers. Each computer has a MAC address, which acts as a unique ID.
